It seems that in this town cross stitch is a thing of the past... I checked the only 3 stores I could check for a pattern... no one sells them anymore  I saw canvas at one store but that's about it

Does anyone know where I can find a cross stitch pattern with either a mountain lion, bald eagle or something along those lines (it's a project for someone who loves the outdoors)?

I've got LOTS of patterns; I'll see if I can find one. Also, check on-line or at JoAnn's.

I went downstairs to dig through what I have and of course most of them are teddy bear patterns or angels... things like that. Sadly, not quite what I was looking for but I did find an old magazine I had (appearently I must have bought it in the US because the only thing you can find around it has to do with quilting).

It has a pattern in it of a deer (not quite what I was thinking) which will have to do until i can find what I'm looking for. Being an outdoors person, I'm sure it will still be appreciated.

Thank you for that site Jackie... I looked and did see some stuff I like

We went on a little "road trip" today (a peaceful one at that... amazing what happens when you threaten to turn ABBA on if the fighting starts  ) and to my surprise there doesn't seem to be pattern books available anymore BUT I did manage to find something to work on. It wasn't quite what I was looking for but it will work... didn't realize how tricky it would be to work on navy blue canvas though... my eyes feel as though they're bugged right out of my head but it's all cool... no more being hostage to my computer while I work on this project

Thank you Jackie... the design I picked out is actually my FB profile picture right now

<My reasoning for the eagle is this... when I think of American freedom I think of the Eagle... I could be wrong in that thinking but that's what it symbolizes to me and the reasoning for that choice>

OH! There were some others that had like an Eagle with an American flag, but I didn't look at them because you're not an American, so I figured you wouldn't want an American flag. But you're right about it being a symbol of freedom here.

If you can find beading patterns, they can be converted into cross stitch. Some jewelery making magazines carry them. Here, you can find craft and stitching magazines with patterns in them.

If you sew children's clothing, you can do cross stich with something called Waste Canvas. You baste it on to your clothing, and it has a nice sqare grid to it. Then when you're done with the stitching, you wet it and the waste canvas threads pull right out. I've done some nice stitching onto Onesies for baby showers and they look really nice.
