Right now I am overwhelmed with joy.

My son just told me what my mother's day gift is- he gave me a $50 gift card to a local quilt shop.

I was hoping for something, but only expected a gift about $10 or so.

    Wow!!!

Nice gift! Especially nice that it's for something you enjoy. I know it's not the money...it's the fact that you know they're sacrificing their own little creature comforts...to show you how much they love you. It's awesome!

My hubby and daughter are working on my front flower bed. They're weeding and adding dirt and peat, and getting it all ready for me to plant. I love to do the planting. They also bought me a gorgeous Clementis...in gorgeous DARK purple....to climb up my porch.

    Kinda like this:

My daughter also bought me an airtight tub, a block of clay and sculpting tools. Hubby says he'll build a kiln for me this summer out of bricks with a propane burner from a design he found online! He's a heating and cooling contractor...so I think it might actually work. LOL.

We just got back from visiting my mom. I found her a cute sweater at Christopher Banks...navy and long enough to cover her butt. LOL...that's her favorite feature in a sweater. We're also covering her lawn service bill this summer:)

I made her a card on Bitstrips. (I made custom cartoon characters out of our whole family, and it turned out adorable!)

Has been a really lovely day. My husband's mom is no longer with us, but I bought him some yellow roses, because they were her favorite, and it's nice to have a physical memory of her to remember her at mother's day. She was an amazing lady and we miss her a lot.

    Oh man...forgot the BEST part!
I went out with my girlfriend last night...and when I got home, Elle and Robby had cleaned the kitchen! I could not BELIEVE she made her boyfriend clean the kitchen with her. Was a wonderful surprise, since it was getting kinda deep in there! LOL.

Cabs, you'll need to show us what you make from your $50!!! My favorite site is www.quilterscache.com Faythe got me a cutting board. Mine broke in half about three weeks ago, and Faythe said that would be a good gift. Then they were half-price at Joann's, plus my 15% teacher discount. So I went with her to get it, but I don't get it until tomorrow ;).

Crazy, I have that kind of clematis at my old house. It's killing me to leave it behind. I was able to dig up a lot of things (both white and red bleeding heart, astilbe, yarrow.....), but I can't get the clematis. Nor do I have a place right now for it to climb. I warned Carl that I plan on buying me a new one next year. Did you know that you can dead-head them, and SOMETIMES you'll get a second round of blooms (though not as full).

Great advice about the clementis, Jackie!

Make sure you take coupons with you to JoAnn's...in case you find something else you want:)

My coupon for JoAnn's wasn't any good, because it was already on sale. However, I used it to buy the batting for Phillip's quilt!

Two of my daughters took me out today. We went to two yarn shops and they bought a new circular needle I was starting to buy and got a gift certificate that I get tomorrow. The lady who runs my favorite shop is getting new stock in soon so I am excited!

I will probably use at least some of it to buy the fabric for an apron for my 7 yr. old niece. I already have the fabric for the 5 yr. old niece. I just have to find the time to take the other one to pick out some fabric and then get busy.

I don't do clothing usually, but I figure aprons can't be too hard.

What a GREAT gift!! I had a great Mother's day too! We drove 45 minutes to the nearest Taco Bell and had lunch then went shopping at the Goodwill since it's 1/2 price clothing day on Sundays. Hubby Surprised me with a dozen Red roses and a Hershey bar. Then my oldest ,who moved out recently, stopped by for a visit and brought me flowers in the prettiest vase and the sweetest card thanking me for putting up with him the past 17 years and for helping him to become the person he is today.. Made me cry.. Hubby gave me a card thanking me for being a Godly Mother and Wife. I cried some more. I would have been fine with just those cards. They meant the world to me..
