I just found out that our state is offering free online charter school. I got the infor from an online homeschool group I belong to. They posted the info they had and that there will be an info session all about it if you are interested on Wed. 2/23- next wed. I looked at the website, and pretty much what it is is public school online, but at their own pace. Free curriculum, access to teacher help, online tutoring, online extra curricular groups (art, chess, clubs, etc). I am just not sure about it. They would be required to take standardized tests, which they have never done, and follow a set curriculum. I know that my oldest is a bit behind on some subjects, according to ps grade scale, so that might mess him up emotionally if they say he can not be in the right grade. I am kind of interested, but really nervous about it. What if we start and don't like it? I guess these are questions to ask at the information meeting. I think I do want to go to get the information, but am not sure I could commit to it at this time.

Does anyone else do anything like this? What are your pros/cons? One thing that worries me is that it would put us onder the ps umbrella, make us have to explain everything we do and only be able to do what they tell us with the boys. Right now, we are very eclectic in curriculum, set for basics (match, spelling, grammer), but are kind of child led in the other subjects somewhat.
