Just ordered almost everything. I think we are going to start next week.
Summer has been awful; school wise, and I can't wait to get the boys back on track. The idea was they would do some stuff very general and workbooks and get "credit" for a day a week. But that has not worked out and they watch tv, play video games, whine and fight.
So I am starting school because they were both so much more pleasant. They still fight and fuss, but at least they are not bored...and I feel like they are making progress.
    So I ordered
Dr. Art - guide to science and the dvd too. It looks like fun, I got the book from the library and it is funny but fairly in depth. I hope the dvd is good.
I will let ya'll know. My plan is to go through and flesh out the parts the boys are interested in.

Vocabulary vines for well...ha ha vocabulary (and reading)
Giggles in the middle for Grammar
Hands on Essays for writing...hoping on this one too. it also has a dvd. Looked promising.

    Still haven't decided on math.
well. Dutch will do Saxon 7/6.
but for Jazz deciding between TT and ALEKS...going to borrow TT algebra from a friend to see if that is the way we want to go. Also planning on seeing if I can get a 30 day trial of ALEKS...tried it for 2 days...but can't tell from that.

For Computer Science - Office 2007 for Dummies...we shall see how this works. It looks well laid out, I am sure I can come up with 'assignments'. I am hoping to get Jazz really competent on the computer stuff. And I only know word and pp.
(Dutch is going to start typing) We were not ready for the computer science programming courses. He just needs to learn how to USE the computer.

Got history covered text wise (simple schooling American History)
for added living books going to start with Stowaway by Karen Hess - about Captain Cooks voyage (not AM. history...but as the start is the Vikings and Columbus and all I thought a good sea history would be pertinent) Plus we are going to do Swiss family robinson on our "vacation" so am sticking with the idea of sea exploration for the first two months.
We will also finish Viking Tales which we started last year and the boys liked...
    Anyway
I am happy again to be getting started.

oh and I almost forgot...for bible we are going to read "God is closer than you think" Which I loved. and it too is funny, which seems to work well with boys.
