Amanda, God does still work miracles... the little boy with leukemia, Joyce and her accident... believe it's possible He can do a mighty work in your dad too. Praying...
My dad went for an appointment on Dec. 13 and got his surgery scheduled for Jan. 9. Today, my mom got a call from the doctor and they say they overbooked and can't get him in until Jan. 29!!! She wasn't at home when she got the message and hadn't told my dad yet. She was planning to call back once she told got home to tell him about it. That's almost 3 weeks longer - Jan. 9th was already a long wait, so I'm not sure what they will do. Please pray for wisdom.
Okay - Good news... The past 2 hours were crazy, but they were able to keep the same appointment for Jan 9. For some reason the nurse thought he had just had his pathology done and thought he could wait. My dad informed her that he had a Gleason 7, which means the cancer is a little more advanced than someone who could just wait another 3 weeks on top of the 2 months he's already waited. My mom had called about 10 people on her way home to pray that it would work out, and it did...
Bumping this so we can keep them in our prayers - surgery is for Monday (as long as it hasn't been changed again).
Thanks for bumping this up - We are leaving tomorrow (Sunday) and he has to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. on Monday to get ready for surgery. He can only have liquids from now until then. I talked to my mom tonight and he is freaking out and my mom is going crazy too. So prayers for that area are appreciated too. If all goes well, he will be able to come home Tuesday afternoon!

Please Pray for Elliot Family In our homeschool group there was a little boy who was very sick, he was born with lots of things. Turned 5 on Halloween anyway they shut all the machine off on Saturday and he passed away. I was hoping you all could keep the family in your prayers. Talked to the dad today and he said the mom finally cried today. They have another little girl who is 8 and doing fair has her moments. It's going to be along long hard hill to climb. So, please keep them in your prayers and thoughts for awhile. Thanks
Hopefully Amanda's dad got to have his surgery yesterday and things went well. I was thinking about them.
We're finally back! The last several days were very tiring... We ended up staying an extra night because my dad had trouble with nausea the day of the surgery and was unable to get up and walk. Because he didn't get up soon enough, his recovery was slowed down a bit. The guy across the hall went in for surgery 4 hours later than my dad and ended up leaving a day before him! My dad was 1 in 3 that has the extra trouble. The pain from the actual surgery actually isn't too bad. I didn't realize this, but they pumped them up with carbon dioxide so there is room to maneuever around the tissues. All the extra gas caused a ton of pressure and major pain the next day. My mom needs lots of prayers because she has to take care of him now. He has a catheter for another week and can't lift anything for a while. Plus you know how men are big babies when it comes to feeling bad. They took out the lymph nodes around the prostate and will let us know the results next week. Hopefully they will be clear of cancer.
My dad was in horrible pain all night and this morning he went to a local hospital. They gave him morphine in the ambulance and he is feeling a lot better now. They are running tests to see if there is a problem. I don't know if it's serious - it's hard to tell. I'm praying for wisdom and peace.
