No parent seriously looking to send their kid to school should take into consideration the playground equipment, or what fashion ideas they'll find out. I knew Scottiegazelle was being sarcastic, though. You can blow off what I see as important, but a certified teacher is a benefit, just because of their training and experience. Anyone can follow a lesson plan, but a teacher that's been in the field is going to bring a little more to it.
When my oldest was close to 4 she asked to go to school. I got out the materials I had already put away for her and we began to 'play school' everyday. She never asked to go to school again. Maybe it isn't the building she is referring to? Maybe starting some school with her now would satisfy her? I will be praying for you as you make your decision.
I admittedly have not read through all the other posts, but this could be one of those teachable moments to show your daughter Who is charge. Why not tell your daughter that you ALL need to seek the Lord's leading about where and how she should be educated?
Just an update- after much talk and prayer, hubby and I decided! We are going to homeschool next year!! You guys get to put up with me a little bit longer!
Ok, this may not be important as Bry's-gal already made up her mind. But I am a list person. I do not count the number of items on my pro con list. I rate each item on a scale of importance from 1-10, then I add up the columns...of course, I have been known to go back and change my ratings if what I "wanted" didn't "win"..... but it isn't cheating because the point is to figure out what it is you want/need to do.
I think that is wonderful, and wanted to say something of that nature myself. A child's voice, no matter how small, should be listened to. God listen's to them, why shouldn't we? Sure they need to know who is in charge in the house, but how is a child going to learn to wholeheartedly listen to another person's feelings if their own parents are not going to let them be heard? Ultimately, it is your call (and I see you've already decided which I am sure is the right choice for your family)...but a child's opinion and feelings still matter. Have fun schooling!
