Just looked in on dd to see that she was on her laptop. I asked her what she was doing. She replied in a justified tone that she was doing school. For you early morning risers, that's what we are doing at 10 pm.

Also, it hasn't been unusual for her to disappear in the morning only to find her doing her school work. This is my reluctant learner who almost continuously complained until the last couple months.

What are you using that has her so interested? Please share. I am serious. My almost 13 year old is so bored and I would love something that she would stick with on her own. Thanks, Beth

We use SOS right now. My kids love doing school on the computer. We were having a tough time with quizzes & test though, so I turned them off (except math) and assigned the some of the lessons again to fill up the days. Next year we will work more with note taking. SOS doesn't review much and it was hard to figure out what would be on the test. I didn't test when they were young, so I figured I'd work on adding them slowly. I know it's a skill they will need for college.

Next year we will stay with SOS for Spanish I, 9th grade LA and bible. We are using Thinkwell Pre-algebra, and Plato Online Science Learning. I'm going to experiment with MOH with a heavy emphasis on videos and online research and virtual field trips. If we can't make it with that little of structure, than I'll switch them back to SOS for history.

Thank you. I am going to look at Plato Science and see if Emily might like that.

clumbsy mom try printing the tests or quizes out for them, then you can grade them normally on it . Since you have them turned off anyway? That way they are still checking thier work on it, and its easier for the kids to understand on the printed test cause they can write and rewrite, work out problems on the side etc. where as on SOS there is no room for that,
I made mine have more choices on everything but T and F to adjust their SOS at some point. Can't wait to set it up for next year!

Can't get the printer to work with my kids laptops, so printing isn't an option.

Yes, the printer driver disk we have isn't compatible. Looked up on HP website to see is new printer driver is available and couldn't find it. It's not that old of a printer, don't know why they wouldn't have one available. We bought the printer because it was Mac compatible. Have fooled with it much. It's on my list of things to do one day. You know the list with no deadlines, so most things never get done.

    clumsymom-

My printer is 4? or 5 years old. Our laptops didn't have the drivers either. If you have the disk that came with the printer (we still did, thankfully) you can install the drivers from that.

Was kind of a pain, but works well now :)
