Does anyone have a good recommendation for some material about the history of dinosaurs and how it fits into a Biblical timeline? My 16 year old student has been fascinated with dinosaurs since he was a young kid. He was asking about dinosaurs and how they fit in the timeline today as we were studying World History. And I just don't have the answers. Does anyone have a lesson or book or even a little video that you've used that explains dinosaurs from a Christian perspective? It's okay if it's intended for younger kids, we're just interested in some basic facts. Thanks!
Designed for a slightly younger reader but he still might enjoy it. Dinosaurs and the Bible by David Unfred
Anything by Answers in Genesis (Ken Ham). I can't remember which book, but after studying some of his material, I was able to map out a Biblical timeline for our youth group. It tied up so many loose ends for me, too. Things I took on faith finally were able to be seen clearly.
I'm totally loving this site! There's about 20 DVDs that I'd love to watch on a variety of topics. haha. I just realized that it's from the same group that has the Creation Museum, which I've heard a little about before. The museum is about 5 hours away from us and I'm wondering if the dinosaurs will be enough for me to bribe him to go with me on a little roadtrip. (how bad is it that I'm swaying him to go, partly because *I* really want to go!! haha)
Our small group watched a video series (can't remember the title without looking it up). I was fascinated by speciesation alone. I hope you get to go! *jealous*
In the book of Job chapter 40 there is mention of a dinosaur (Behemoth.) It's believed Job lived about 2,000 years after the Great Flood if that helps a little We just studied this today in our Mystery of History and I went delving into Job a little deeper than required. I learned a lot I had just sort of skimmed over before I also love Answers in Genesis!!
Ditto the Answers in Genesis. I was fortunate enough to take the boys to see Ken Ham and Buddy Davis in Boise several years ago. Buddy Davis does puppetry, and has videos explaining dinosaurs and how they fit into the scheme of things. They were wonderful speakers and engaged my kids in their presentations, and then were also gracious enough to sign my son's notebook and Buddy Davis (and dinosaur puppet) posed with my sons for a picture. MT3 (Check out one of the Christian channels- they run some AIG shows, but sometimes are on late/early and need recorded to watch at a better time. One in particular, I think it is just listed as Answers in Genesis, has Buddy Davis' dinosaur "skit" and then Ken Ham or other people answer questions or speak on a specific topic.)
Brooke you always recommend the best books and things. I am always looking for what you have to say....
Finally found the series my small group watched....of course, it would be the one titled Answers. I'm a dork. http://www.answersingenesis.org/Pub...with-Ken-Ham-12-part-DVD-series,4722,229.aspx
How dinosaurs fit on the ark: http://www.whybaptism.org/Creation-HTML/NoahArk.htm Free videos about dinos & Bible (power point with sermon audio, I think ... it's been forever since I watched them, but I remember they were good): http://www.whybaptism.org/CreationVideos.htm Dino & man footprints together, etc. (there's a ton of stuff on this site ... most by Don Patton, whom I know personally): http://www.bible.ca/tracks/tracks.htm
I am going to join the mass and say Answers in Genesis is perfect for that. Or if you are ever in Ohio I hear the Creation Museum would be great for that.
I prefer the Kent Hovind Creation series. They are on Netflix. We worked through them as a family one summer and my children were all convinced of what I believe to be truth. Although in the last one or two he gets off the topic of the Bible and gets somewhat anti-government, but most of what he says is great.
The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible by Paul S. Taylor. Or my favorite, Dinosaurs by Design by Duane T. Gish. Hope this helps!
I agree with this. Just focus on his Creation Science seminars and ignore all the messy tax evasion business he got himself into  You can watch/download the 8 seminars for free here. (They're legal downloads, he encourages distributing free copies of his seminars).
Thanks for the link, Angie. I watched these years ago and got to the end and was wondering about his credibility. :/
Thanks, guys!! I'm definitely going to check out the other links as well and gather a bit of info to have ready for him when he gets back with me next week. But, I think I'm going to broach the subject of driving over to the museum. I think there's enough "little boy love of dinos" spark left in him that he would enjoy it, maybe even if it's just a little bit.
