On the back of my front door - that way we can see them coming and going. I keep each years' in decorative santa mailbox that my dd (almost 3) is LOVING going through!
I put them on the wall next to the picture of Santa on a train my mom made years ago and she gave me as a present for Christmas because I never felt it was Christmas without it. Anyway, I hang them up near that..and I kind of leave it up year round.
christmas ribbon strung across the wall in three strips with pretty thumbtacks.... as a card comes in, it's draped over the ribbon!
On the back of our front door until it gets full then around the door. Our church has a missions mailbox and everyone donates money to missions and puts their cards to our church members in the mailbox so we end up with a lot of cards. Each Sunday and Wed. in Dec. we have cards to bring home and open. It is a lot of fun.
Last year I found a beautiful fabric card holder that you hang on the wall. It is embroidered with holiday Bible verses and has three large pockets for Christmas cards.
We hang them on the wall. This year we are using the wall between the breakfast area and sliding glass door so you can see it no matter where you are.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has noticed this! I usually start getting them in the mail the Monday after Thanksgiving but I've only received four or five so far this year. We also have a box for the people in our church so those don't have to be mailed and they should be handed out soon, but as far as the USPS goes, it's way down for years past.
Oops! I just realized that I replied but failed to tell how we display our cards. I have a snowman that standing about three feet tall that holds our Christmas cards. He goes along with my snowman theme that I have going.
I noticed this happening over the past couple of years too. I think people are tired of paying the price of postage.
That and with the cost of cards, this year I'm only sending them to those that live very far away or I know really enjoy getting a card otherwise it's just not an expense I want to keep up.
It may be too late for this year but next year I plan on finding some old window shutters and using them to display the cards. I saw it in a gooseberry patch christmas book. So I'm keeping my eyes peeled this year when we are going to yardsales and thrift stores.. I know several people who would LOVE these as gifts...
Ok - I haven't sent Christmas cards in FOREVER!!!! Years ago I would send "new years" cards instead and I liked doing that a lot instead. Now - it's become a joke of my husband's asking me "have you sent the Christmas cards?" KNOWING I have not.... But I buy them almost every year - LOL And I just set them on the counter - after we moved I don't seem to get as many as I did in the past.
we place ours on the christmas tree.. my husband likes the way it looks. next year we will make the windowshutter card holder.
Just about all the cards we got this year were photo cards, so I'm going to trim them and put them in frames and put them around the house.
