Help! I've forgotten what this is called... Back in the old days (like, twenty years ago) shopkeepers used to place credit cards in a machine with carbon paper. Then they'd slide the top portion over the card with a kachunk-kachunk noise, and you'd have a carbon copy of the card. So... what were these carbon slider machines called? Does anyone here remember? I've been asking friends and they all seem to have forgotten.
does this help? http://www.merchantequip.com/merchant-account-blog/102/the-history-of-credit-card-terminals
Yay! That's awesome. Thank you! Manual imprinter, that's lots better than saying, "The kachunk-kachunk machine".
LOL!!!! I am getting old! For a minute I thought that it was less than 20 years ago because I used one when I worked at Blockbuster Video when I was 18 years old. I counted back and that WAS 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!  Oh well! Now I can share with my future grandchildren how we old folks swiped credit cards. lol
