No doctor's notes here. DD goes to the doctor frequently and one of them is a bit of a drive from here. I take the kids work with as the wait can sometimes be long. DS waits for us in the lobby while DD is at her appts so he will continue on with his work or read quietly. I also take schoolwork for them to do when I have appts. So many people comment of how quietly the kids sit and do their work!! Makes me proud!

ABSOLUTELY!!! And when those people hear the negative talk about the abusive, socially retarded, isolated, ignorant homeschoolers, they will think on your kids and know that there's plenty that know how to sit and behave and do their work independently. And they'll compare them to the schooled kids that are running wild around the office....

She is missing a toe and has a leg length difference. It turns out that the entire leg seems to be behind in growth, so we're going to see if we can lengthen or shorten it in a bit.

Didn't read all the threads, but no. Why bother? Even if it did "come to that," they'd not be able to go back and "get" you for things that you'd not done according to the new law before it was a law. KWIM?

    Anyway.
Quoted Rmom above because, when we were using the ps system, I still even then didn't get a doctor's excuse. They'd ask if we had one. I'd say no, we didn't go to the doc. He had a fever. I gave him Tylenol. Fever went down. I have no insurance. Why do I need to go to the doctor for something I can take care of myself for 2tsp of medicine?
After a year and a half of arguing with the nurse every time it happened, she finally began letting him have the excused absence without a doctor's note, because by then she knew that, NO, we don't go to the doctor for silly stuff like that! GR!

DaLynn, that was like us, he went 1/2 a year of Kinder. He practically stayed sick. I took him to the dr. 3 times during that time (because it moved into his lungs really bad...he had bronchitis) the other times when we didn't go to the dr. I didn't have a note.
They sent a note saying that we would be guilty of truancy is we didn't provide notes. So I hand wrote a bunch of notes for whatever days he had missed, lol. :) It worked. I thought that me calling in was excusing him, didn't know he STILL needed a written note by me.
    Anyhow. :)

I know I don't know you. But you may want to consider a chiropractor as well.

It helped my DD's leg big time.

But look for a chiro that does cranial sacral and that will work with limbs.

We live in Texas and don't have to record attendance like Ranchermom and DaLynn stated.

I record it in my homeschool lesson plan book so that I make up the time lost. We did that when Michael had three sugeries in March 2005. We took several weeks off for his recovery from his surgeries. I figured in case I ever needed to prove the time he was hospitalize in the future, I'd call his Primary doctor who has his medical records.

With us, any time spent at the doctor is usually medical procedures or MRIs with sedation for Michael. If it was as simple as a fever, I'd follow DaLynn's suggestion and keep him home with Tylenol or Motrin.
