I found an idea for a craft concerning Palm Sunday. However, I am sure it can be adapted or serve another purpose. I got a coloring picture of a donkey. I used the the one on http://abcteach.com/Animals/donkey.htm. Anyway, you cut that out then put glue all over it. Shake cinnamon over it and skake off the excess. then glue on a google eye. You can use yarn to make frige for the mane and another color yarn to tie around the mouth like a....oh geesh...I can't think of the word....oh, harness. I am doing this tonight in AWANA. However, if you perfer you can make a bear or something like that. I just thought it was cute. The original project (which I can't remember exactly where I got it) called for tea from tea bags instead of cinnamon. I have made cinnamon bears before and thought cinnamon would work out nicely. Besides, it is all I have and I have to teach tonight. Anyway, just thought I would share.
Oh by the way, I shrunk the pic down to 60% when I copied it for my class. I thought the pic was too large and would take up too much tea or cinnamon. But I have a class I am using this for. Had it been solely for my kids I may have used the bigger one.
It just makes the donkey brown. Cinnamon is a MUCH better idea than the tea! We tried that and it just made a mess and smelled funny. LOL
There is no significance to the cinnamon. I was trying find a nice symbolic thing to go with it.....but it was a just a different medium to use for fun. We did it tonight in AWANA. The kids loved it. It was a very big mess! I almost felt bad about posting it after the mess it was at church. But the kids like it, you just have to be willing to clean it all up. Or cover your table properly....that would work.
You can also glue a piece of material or felt onto his back...a blanket to sit on while riding. We did that (minus the cinnamon) when I taught two's. I have all my materials I used in folders in a box; I will add the cinnamon idea to it in case I ever have the opportunity to teach two's again. I think they'd like the smell!
Felt! I had tons of it! I came up this with such little time that I forgot about the blanket. I will remember that next time if I do this again.
