And I am tickled pink! We take Hewitt Homeschooling's PASS test; this is his third year taking it. Every time I'm waiting for those scores to arrive, I'm on pins and needles. Even though I can tell if he's doing well throughout the year, I suppose I still struggle with confidence in my ability to teach them. I'm always afraid that the kids aren't getting enough, so I really need to hear how he's doing compared to other kids. Then this year, I got pregnant in January and have had so many difficulties that I felt were interfering with our schooling...many days of just the basics as I fought with all-day nausea, etc. I would've been happy to see that he just held his own this year. But he did great! His overall performance in math, reading and language arts was rated "high". One thing that truly struck me was to look at how much better he's done with every year that he's been homeschooled. We pulled him out of private school in the middle of third grade. At the end of that year, his percentile scores were 24% (compared to other homeschooled kids who took the test) and 54% (compared to schooled kids who take a similar version of this test). Now, at the end of 5th grade, he's ranking in the 69th percentile (HS kids) and the 92nd (schooled kids) for math! He had significant increases in the other subject areas, too. He's happy, I'm happy...and I am very relieved to see proof that we're doing well! Thanks for letting me brag (and apologies to my friends who had to see this on FB, too!) LOL
