So who else felt the midwest earthquake early this morning? Our bed shook and the doors rattled. It was really cool. The news says it was a magnitude 5.4 quake, centered in southeast Illinois. We felt it way up here in northwest Indiana. Carol
My family in St. Louis didn't feel the first one but I was on the phone with my sis when she felt the mid-morning aftershock. Haven't spoken with my Dad who lives outside Marion, IL to see if he felt the first one. We experienced one in 1999 while stationed at Ft. Irwin, CA. It was a 7.1. Fortunately, living in the middle of the Mojave Desert...not a lot of infrastructure to damage and all the houses were built with quakes in mind. Rhonda
I slept right through it! I was up about a 40 minutes later because my son had a coughing attack. My mom, who lives five minutes away from me, felt it though. At the time she didn't know it was an earthquake. She actually thought she was dizzy. She was practically half asleep when she got up, glanced at the clock and headed to bathroom. On her way she had to hang on to the walls and wondered why her feet felt strange. Many people in my city felt it. There were radio interviews for quite sometime this morning on who felt it, how it felt and where they were when it happened. Were there aftershocks? I thought I felt something awhile ago (between 9:30-10:15 CST), but then again I'm probably sensitive and thinking everything is an earthquake now.
Yes, I did feel the aftershock. It was a 4.6 at 10:14 this morning. I was picking something up in my son's room and I felt really dizzy as if the room was moving, but I wasn't exactly. It's a strange feeling.
Yep, that was it. I was on the phone with her betwen 10 and 10:30 CDT....early lunch break for us in EDT.
My sister is on a business trip and woke up thinking, I don't remember there being train tracks near this hotel. She is so weird!
