I am considering using Easy Grammar for my dd, but I am wondering does it come with writing assignments, tests, curriculum. I don't know much about it, but what I saw at our local Christian Bookstore. Can anyone tell me more? My dd is in 5th going in 6th next year. Abeka is just too hard for her. TIA, Melanee
There is no writing involved with Easy Grammar. I like it beacuse it is very simple and explains things well, but I use it along with another curriculum for writing. I think maybe Writing Strands goes along with the Easy Grammar.
Ditto what Pam said. That is exactly what I am using. Easy Grammar is a good curriculum for parts of speech, usage, rules... It doesn't have any writing exercises. I have used it for 3 years, but I also use Writing Strands(sometimes Learning Language Arts through Literature-just for variety).
I really like Easy Grammar, too. We are using 5/6 and plan on going on to Plus next year. I really need to get something to get going on writing but I'd like for ds to be a little more "ready" for it. I remember that dumb feeling of sitting there and not having a clue what to write. Ann
I've reviewed a copy of Growing with Grammar that you might want to look at. I reviewed 3rd grade but...she has finished more of them now. It's secular and looks real good. Not as much drill and pounding as Rod & Staff but....covers the same material. http://www.hsiz.org/resources.asp?resourceCatID=283,407,458
We love Easy Grammar and its counter part, Daily Grams. We just do writing assignments and storytelling for writing. I believe I bought Writing STrands but never ended up using it...
I believe I bought mine on vegsource.com (scroll down, on the left is a homeschool for sale forums) or ebay.
