AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH! When are people going to mind their own d**n business! I didn't read all the posts, but get a letter from the vet to have on hand and tell the ole' bat she better mind her own business or you'll file a report for menacing and harassment and slander. Then, break into her house and replace all of her hair conditioner with Nair. That way she'll be so preoccupied with her own messy "fur" that she'll forget about your dog!!

As for the humane society, our local one strikes me as a bunch of pompous, self-righteous people. Long story, but if you google "cicconetti kittens" it's the first link that pops up (abcnews.com). Now, before you judge the woman as being heartless, keep in mind that she claims to have gone to the Human Society for help but the Humane Society disputes that. Well, just a couple of months after this incident, one of the moms at dance class asked if anyone wanted kittens because someone dropped them off on her porch--and the humane society refused to help!! But when I go to PetSmart I see these cats up for adoption with a tag that reads (I'm using my whiny voice now) "Fluffie's owner simply couldn't keep her because she had too many animals." Yeah, and somebody's mom had to spend Thanksgiving in the cold, dark forest.

I am totally with you on this who topic, that women is crazy!

But, when I read that article....
"They were traced back to Murray because they were wearing identification collars."

That is not a simple, "Hey someone left these on my doorstep this morning, help."

That is more a: "I have had these animals long enough to have identification tags on them, and dumb enough to leave them on the animals, before I left them alone in the park."

At least that's what I get from the story, because again.... "They were traced back to Murray because they were wearing identification collars."

    But, I wasn't there.

Yeah, when I read the article last night, I caught that sentence too and thought the same thing--especially how dumb she was to leave them on. (I didn't hear about that when the case was current and on our local news) but my beef is that she went to the Humane Society and they turned her away and then the head of the Humane Society stood there in court and gloated while this woman, who obviously didn't have money to care for the kittens, was ordered to pay the Humane Society something crazy like $3,000. (I guess the animals ended up at the Humane Society after they were found).

Maybe she was a repeat offender? Not sure but even if so, why would they turn away the animals? Maybe they ... heck if I know, just a weird story all the way around, eh?

I wouldnt worry about it too much. As long as you have a vet on your side, the humane society cant really do anything (or wont do anything). As for the nosey lady, I would tell her to not come near your dog or property line ever again or you press charges for trespassing. I think I would also remind her that she can be sued for slander and making a false report to try to get you into trouble with the humane society. You already informed her that the dog has been taken care of by a vet, so what she is doing is slandering you.

I would pull the dogs vet records and get copies just incase the humane society does pull up to your door. I also would keep a copy of the report that the humane society makes to give to my attorney when I sued for slander.

FYI, our Humane Society does not take animals (like if you want to drop them off). They only pick up abused or neglected animals.

Yes, but if you have the records showing the dog is being taken care of they wouldn't take it away.

FYI there is a new pill out called Capstarr that is wonderful it kills fleas in 24 hours can be given up to 2 to 3 times a week. It works my dog has trouble with fleas and this stuff works. Try it.

I must be a softy. The neighbors' cat had kittens in our feed shed. I told him about them and he didn't want them. I have been caring for them, feeding them and de-worming them! Looks like we have 4 more pets!
