    4.5 and 8.5

    We attend church/sunday school
the kids participate in the childrens program weekly for music training and missions studies where people in the church who have traveled show slides and bring there knick knacks. Many of these folks traveled on missions. FREE

They also do service projects. The church kids will have a team in the local olypiad children's events. FREE

    Movie nights at church. FREE

We attend live concerts of music of all types. Jazz, Blue Grass, Orchestra, Country, Clogging. We live in the best place in the country for this stuff. (Western NC) Many of these are outdoor concerts in the parks around here. Bag chairs and picknick dinners are part of the deal for us. We recently saw a flutist play over 20 different flutes from around the world, and will see a chior from England this next week. Mostly FREE

We attend the story telling programs in the local libraries. This area is rich in this type of talent both professionals and hobbiests and many here compete on a national level. We go to the library once a week. FREE

We visit art studios, museums, and art demonstrations at least once a month. There are lots of them around here in all of the down towns as we are near the National Forests and lots of tourists visit the old down towns for art and antiques. FREE

We attend festivals in small towns in the area. FREE

We go to the drive-in if the movies are appropriate (7 dollars a car load for 2-3 movies) Other families we know go also and some show early and play football or catch in front of the screen. Bag Chairs and the Cooler for picknick dinner work well here. Practically FREE

The older girl will start piano later this fall. Not Sure $$

We will participate in 4H club this year. The club consists primarily of homeschoolers and every other month they have an acedemic fail, e.g. Science Fail, History and Geo. Fair, etc. This is a great thing for us. It will push us to do projects and give dd's the opportunity to do the dreaded public speaking.

We visit small farms and buy locally grown produce and meats.

    I have three boys- 13, 11 and 8.

All three have been/are involved in LOTS of sports- soccer in spring, baseball in late spring, flag football in summer, tackle football and soccer in fall, and basketball in winter. Right now we have all three on seperate flag football teams. DH is involved by helping to coach as well.

Oldest two are in a twice-weekly book club at the library for 4th-8th graders during the school year. DS #3 doesn't like the story time for his age because there are so many younger kids in it.

    All are in piano.

Last year oldest took Latin with three other homeschool kids- we hope to have Latin2 on the schedule soon.

This fall we have joined a new co-op forming- we will meet on Tuesdays.

We have been involved in a Christian school choir, and in the community children's theater group.

Sundays are church and Sunday school. Our youth program has kind of stalled at the moment- I hope it improves soon. Oldest DS is in his second year of confirmation class.

We are part of a homeschool group that meets once a month. We also hope to have a writing club for the kids once a month, and I'm trying to start a Mathcounts group for the older two once a week.

During the summer we have VBS (oldest helps), and I'm part of the library Friends board and this year our summer reading program lasted two months, once a week.

No problems with the "s" word here!!

When living back in Oz my son did karate and art lessons, and my daughter did netball and art.

When we moved here, we were close to a pool, so they did swimming lessons and started Arabic + Islamic studies at the mosque down the road

Now we have moved again (to another emirate)...and for the meantime they will just play at one of the hotels down the road (pools/tennis/squash etc) until we can find other structured activities nearby and find a mosque which offers kids classes (we have 3 within 500m, but none do classes...)

They would like to take up dancing, tennis and art.

We also take a trip to the library when needed , although in Dubai we were only 15 mins from one, now we have 1 1/2 hrs to get to it..*sigh*

    Hi
I guess I will list what my kids have been involved in in the past as well as what I have them signed up for this year.

When my son was 4/5 he took dance. My son took tap dance when he was 5/6.

My daughter took pre-ballet when she was about 3. I took my daughter to mommy/toddler swim class that year as well.

Last Fall my son attended our Y's homeschool swim 'n gym class (35 min swim/40 min gym). Both of my kids took an etiquette class through our homeschool co-op. That winter my son (age 7) was involved in a college musical, so he had singing, acting and dance lessons included with that production.

For a few weeks this summer my kids played t-ball/softball with some neighborhood kids and friends (the Dads and some Moms coached).

This fall we have both kids (still 7 and still 4) signed up for swimming lessons. More than likely next week I will sign my son up for an art class through our homeschooling co-op.

My children also attended VBS during the summers at church and go to Sunday School.

My husband and I also take the children out to free local events and library programs and such.

I consider us not to be that busy. I'm fine with that. My neighbors are always running to activities and lessons in the evening and on the weekends. That type of lifestyle is not what I want (at least for now).

DD 13: flute, violin, piano, voice but music is actually a school subject for her though most people think of it as extra. We travel for it so I've listed it. This term only she is doing some drama about Shakespheare.

This year we dropped all outside sport due to time constraints. Next year we will be narrowing down her music as voice & flute are her main priorities. Violin & probably piano will go. They've helped her musically but 3 instruments is too much at this stage & she can always go back.
