Math was always my favorite subject, and it came fairly easily to me. I remember even in grade 1 my teacher let me work ahead in my book, so I finished all my math well before the end of the year. DD has been picking up phonics, beginning to read and now I'm thinking about introducing math in the next few months or so. She's only 4, but she's very bright. So far school work is always just something fun, and we only do it when she asks for it. We've been using Explode the Code (waiting for DH to go get the next books for us) and random workbooks from the store. So, any suggestions for math?

I liked Critical Thinking's Mathematical Reasoning at that age. My boys enjoyed it.

I have two favorite math curriculums, it just depends on what you are looking for.

Math-U-See is awesome and I love it, it is a mastery math, which I love.

Saxon is another favorite of mine, Saxon is a spiral math, which I don't like as much as mastery, but my sons really love it!

We love Horizons! It's spiral which works well for my kids. I just wish it went all the way to High School!

We use Shiller math. Their website is not user friendly at all, but the program itself is great.

We use Horizons for my 6 year old. She likes it (we're on gr 1 this year). We start each math session with a game to 'warm-up'. We might play Sum Swamp or other adding/subtracting board game.
