Hi all, I had posted a while ago about my FIL being ill with lung cancer, and had asked you all about whether or not I should go to stay with them for a while, despite my husband not wanting me to go. We did go to visit recently, but I didnt stay. Dh didnt want me to, and everyone I spoke to told me not to. Our reception over there was the same as always, with accusatory remarks interwoven into conversation...I was and still am feeling guilty. I did what I thought was best, but now I'm not so sure. Its all said and done now, so the point is moot, except in my heart. Anyway, FIL has taken a turn for the worse. Yesterday all day all he had to eat was 3 teaspoons of rice and broth, and a few sips of water. He cannot use the walker, and they use the wheelchair to bring him out of his room. He is extremely confused, and talks about his dead parents as if they were still there. He tells his wife and kids that they should say goodbye, because he is leaving. He keeps falling asleep. I havent been able to talk to him for 2 weeks now, as he is either asleep or so out of it that he cannot focus enough to talk. For those of you who have been through this: I think the end is near, and am trying to urge Dh to go this weekend. Thing is, he says God can perform many miracles, etc etc...basically I dont think he has grasped that his father might not even make it till the next month, which is when he plans to go visit. Time is of the essence, I think....How do I tell my husband "Go see him, before he dies". It sounds so coldhearted
