Every Monday we've had issues with DS and his work, he takes FOREVER and plays all day long. So this week I changed things around and we started the week on Tuesday to see if it was just a Monday thing. I started with reading instead of math, to see if it was just a math thing also. Nope it doesn't matter. It's just a first day of the week thing, apparently because we are having the same issues today. I've taken away all distractions, I've let him listen to music, I've let him have a snack and do his work to see if it will help. I've worked with him. I've taken away things. Nothing seems to work. Unless I physically do the work for him, which I won't. It takes us 3-5 hours to do 1-2 hours worth of work. The rest of the week he will work wonderfully, stay on task (with a few issues but not like the first day of the week) and be done with everything in an hour, 2 tops.
Can you try having him do a little bit of school work over the weekend. I know when I have more days off from work than i'm used to I can never get right back into it when I get back. Maybe if he does a few worksheets over the weekend ( Just something simple, not frustrating for either of you and something he can just do on his own) it won't be so hard getting back into it on Monday!
Or is it possible to have a lighter day on Mondays? I know we tend to be more relaxed on Fridays...but maybe easing back into it...I have to agree with your son though....Mondays? Yuck! lol
Mondays were always hard for me as a kid. I think like above some easy sheets during the weekend and maybe a lighter Monday.
I agree with the light Monday idea. My son is the same, he hates Mondays worse than any other. But at least count yourself lucky that the rest of the week is on task! lol
