My son and I are going for our first portfolio review in about an hour. This is the option we have if we don't want to use standardized tests. I've never met the assessor but she's been recommended to me by several people as very knowledgeable and homeschool friendly. I know that overall we had a very good first year of homeschooling, so why am I so nervous?
Cause it is you who is being graded or reviewed. You probably are like most of us and see our child's progress as an expression of how good of a job you did.
I agree!! I think I wish we had the option of either the tests or the eval, I think I would go the route of the tests, the years we have to take them, I not nearly as nervous as I am every year we have to go for our evaluation. We go on Monday for ours and my stomach is already in knots! But it's always way better than I imagine and our evaluator is really nice.
Good luck! I am so glad we don't have to do that here, I would be a nervous wreck! Let us know how it goes!
The assessor was really a kind and intelligent woman with years of experience in teaching and homeschooling. She was extremely happy with all the work we did this year and said I "knocked her socks off". I knew my son was learning, but it's nice to get such positive reinforcement from someone who knows homeschooling.
Great Job! I'm so happy the eval went smoothly and you and your son did such a great job this past year!
