So, this is my first year of actually putting together a school schedule. For the last couple of years I have used the Brightly Beaming Infant/Toddler curriculum, picking and choosing bits and pieces, and doing it when we both felt like it. This year I want to use a little bit from there and some of my own things and ideas. DD loves to play school and is super excited about learning this year so I thought it would be great to get stared with a 'sort of' schedule. I began putting together my plans this past week. IT IS A LOT OF WORK!!! I would have never thought it would take so long to put it all together. I have to give all of you who have been doing this for a long time a big round of applause. It takes a lot of work to plan all that. I can't imagine having more than one child! I spent, I don't know, about 2 hours on it and only finished one week!

LOL - I usually spend a full week doing it with the final work done in 1 day. I use Homeschool Tracker and it helps I can download other people's lesson plans into it (I did that for Math this year)......

Lesson planning is actually one of my favorite things to do - LOL....

I've loved it so far....being my 1st year as well. I basically just scheduled what subjects on what days but am not going to assign any specific time period for each. I know we're roughly aiming for 10-2 each day.....so if we go over, great, if we're done early, great.

I do enjoy lesson planning! But this year I have put together curriculum from scratch for several subjects so it has taken a couple months to get it all together (probably averaging 3-4 hours every weekday), but we finally start tomorrow. I had to put off the start date a couple times because I wasn't ready. My first year I used Sonlight and that was all done for me. My second year I put together some of my own curriculum, but I didn't have everything scheduled and planned so it required lots of work throughout the school year.

It sure does take time to do, I have a month done ahead in some subjects and others only 2 weeks ahead. I have hmshool tracker, but I really just writing them in onto my planner. I mostly just use tracker for my attendance.
