Because they must be forced into the socialist cookie-cutter world as early as possible so they can be classified, categorized, compressed...

When my son was in Kinder, they tested him. I thought it a bit ridiculous at the time too, but it has given me the chance to see where he was versus where he is a year later.

There's a difference in assessing where a child is - I assess my preschooler even - and testing by standardized exams. I am not a fan of standardized tests as what a child knows at the age of 5 is not an indicator as to what he will know by the age of 7. I think that having a pre-determined idea of a child's capabilities at such a young age will be a huge problem in the future in not encouraging children to continue to improve in all areas.

Yeah I'm okay with an oral test upon entrance into K-in fact I'm in favor of it-this way the teacher can tailor her teaching to her student's level.

    But a seven-page, pencil-and-paper test!?!?!?!?

Oh my goodness!!!! BOOOOOOOO, I couldn't even get past the first paragraph!!!! Trying to test K's to take tests when they don't know how to (most of them anyway) Read or write is ridiculous IMO!!!! Sigh, just another ploy for everyone to be a bubble test taker and a robot like everyone else......Again, Just my opinion ....

I couldn't finish the article bc it made me sick to my stomach!!!! ARGH!!!! This is taking valuable time away from them to just. be. CHILDREN!!! I agree that an assessment is alright. I assessed my oldest when he was in PRe-k and now that he is in K as well. These assessments last a couple of days to give him a chance to properly demonstrate his skills. However, a pencil and paper test when not even half of them know how to properly write?! DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!
