So after last week's meltdown over subtraction, ds and I moved along to start multiplication today. I was nervous all weekend about it. However, we used one of the scholastic downloads to start (funny multipl I think.. but I can find out for sure if anyone is interested). It starts off with 'How sheep invented Multiplication", and a sort of funny story. Ds groaned about the story, but quickly got the concept. I let him use a 'cheat square' as my dh said he initially learned that way (the goal is to have multi facts memorized by June, so I'm ok with the square right now). Ds breezed right through the written work, and started doing that portion before I'd finished my explanation on the board. He did let me help him by doing an example together though . After school was done he said, "no math today?" ROTFL! I count that as a successful first multiplication day
