Look on their actual page, top right side of the page for recommendations :)

And then I posted it on my status earlier as well

I read this posting earlier but didn't have time to comment. I am mad you had to deal with this and I am shocked a family friendly place would treat you like that! Now that I have read all the comments I will add mine.

First and foremost, if a child can not be allowed to behave their age then gather your kids and WALK OUT regardless of whether they are done with their cleanings or not. Then call your insurance and tell them what happened and if they have the power to not pay them, or take them off their list of providers to do it! The BBB can only do so much, so you could report it but I wouldn't. I would put reviews everywhere I could though! FB is a great way to start, and I loved how everyone here is banding together and letting them know they can't treat people badly.

Second, If you are NOT allowed in the back with your child RUN as fast as you can from that place! The reason I say this is because I took my son to a dentist when he was 4 or 5 (can't remember exactly) and they had a very strict no parents in the back with their child rule (which they failed to tell me about until they called him to the back). This was a new dentist to us since we had moved to a new town. I felt sooooooo uncomfortable with it that and I knew that something was not right if I couldn't go back. I grabbed my son and told them that under no circumstances would he be seen if I was not allowed back. They refused. My dh told them that we were leaving if that was the case. As we turned around to leave the agreed to let my dh go back but not me. Fine. I was mad though that they wouldn't let me back and only dh. They said it was because there was no room for us in the room. My dh said later there could have been a heard of elephants in the room it was so big.

About a month later there was a news story about the dentist office we had been to. Several of the dentist were molesting the children and the dentists were also calling CPS because they felt the parents were beating their children, which the dentists claimed they saw numerous bruises on nearly every child they saw! So glad my dh went back with my son! We never went back either. We quickly found a new dentist that was wonderful.

You will find a great new dentist once you move. I don't always go off of other peoples recommendations though because I am so picky. So, trust your gut.

I haven't even looked at their FB page yet, but friends of friends (people I don't know) have said that they've disabled the ability to comment on their wall at all.

Yep - I just went to their FB page - the Wall is only showing admin (the dental office's) comments. HOWEVER -- anyone can leave a review. As far as I can tell (as admin of our FB business pages), they canNOT delete a review or prevent you from posting one. Someone posted an inquiry there - including the fact they asked about this on the wall and now the comment is gone.

The reviews may be the place to take this.

I had a horrible experience growing up. I was about 8 or 9 and needed some surgery to graft gum tissue from the roof of my mouth to the lower front gum area. My mom was not allowed back with me. The surgeon was very gruff with me (I was terrified, but co-opporative) telling me to shut up and let him work. All I was doing was tearing up and shaking from being scared. I wasn't fighting him. The anestetic wore off during the proceedure and I could feel him peeling the skin off the roof of my mouth. It was horrible. He had the nurse hold me down. It was the most horrible experience.

As if going to a dentist isn't traumatic enough (it can be for some), to do this... it just boggles my mind. I trust that this works out in the end

I told my husband about this and he suggested talking to the American Dental Association. As a professional organization, they may be able to help. Especially since this dental practice is billing themselves as "family friendly" when they clearly aren't.

I also think talking to the newspapers is a good way to go. Many local papers have consumer ombudsmen - a journalist whose job it is to advocate for consumers when there's a dispute with a business. I assume you'd like an apology, right?

Your story makes me SO grateful for our dentist! Our first dentist wasn't so good, but he wasn't mean, just old. When my son's teeth came in all rotten and missing enamel, he told me it was my fault for nursing him at night. I booked another appointment to get them fixed, but he retired and his office told me to call the local hospital. I did that, and they had me bring my baby in to be looked at by one of the dental surgeons. He seemed a bit sour faced when he walked into the room, but he took one look in my son's mouth and said, "That's not baby bottle mouth! These teeth are obviously deformed. You must have had a fever... what, about the fourth month of pregnancy?"

(Interestingly, I don't remember a fever, but I did have a lot of bleeding right about then - thought I'd miscarried.)

Anyway, he was abrupt and blunt, but I was just SO relieved I wasn't to blame after all that I decided I loved the man. In the hospital, he put porcelain caps on my son's baby teeth, and afterward we joined his private practice. He's NEVER asked to see my kids alone - in fact, he prefers if I can be in the room and it makes him a little grumpy if I'm there with more than one kid and he has to track me down. There are no doors and the walls don't completely enclose the rooms. Everything's very open, and I'm allowed to wander between rooms. All of his hygienists smile when they see me.

His practice is focussed on kids and families, and there's a video game nook in the waiting room, as well as ample toys and books, and a couple of fish tanks to amuse the babies. They're usually good about booking kids at the same time, so we're not stuck in the office too long. The local news likes using this place for background whenever they need to do a piece about dentistry. Twice my kids have ended up on TV.

I just checked their website. The 360 picture of their waiting room shows a large area. I imagined a tiny little space where you were right at the receptionist. There is no way the noises a toddler makes would bother anyone there except someone who was looking to be bothered. I posted in the "recommended" section too. Hopefully, that lady doesn't handle the FB page and some of the dentists will see it. I think sometimes drs. don't know what their office staff is doing. The doctor probably didn't understand what the lady had done when he defended her. Let's see if you get an apology on Monday!

Just had to throw out...I seriously doubt she was talking to the baby. It sounds like a clear-cut case of passive-aggressive bs imo. A "hey mom you're such a bad mother I have to tell this little baby to behave b/c you aren't silencing him promptly" (not how I see it but what I think she was trying to convey).

The first thing I thought of was, um, why didn't she talk to you and not the baby?

    Stupid either way.

I filed a BBB report. And another friend went to school with Lisa Rose; she emailed her personally and told her. This same friend also contacted the News Leader. We shall see if anyone calls me.

Sorry. Tishia is local to me so I was answering her, forgetting that the rest of you won't know who she is. lol.

She's a local newscaster; Sort of the Flagship of the major local tv station. She's the "it girl," if you will.

Jackie, I see yours there again (just seeing your message to me about mine and so I checked). Yours is on top... but still no defending their pitiful actions.

I hope the news company will listen to your story
