It's the first day of school for the public school kids today. My son finished everything but a little bit of science when we received a call from a friend of his who is also homeschooled. The boy is here now and they are having a great time playing with Star Wars legos. If my son were still at the public school he wouldn't get home for another 20 minutes!

I have to say that homeschooling has been interesting so far. We had to go to the school for Meet the Teacher night because we set up a recruiting table for our Cub Scout Pack. Many of the kids, parents and teachers were asking my son which teacher he got this year. He happily announced that he was homeschooling and had already started and that seemed to make the teachers squirm a little. One yelled "I'll see you tomorrow!" and my son yelled back across the school parking lot, "Probably not. I'm being homeschooled and we'll be on our third day of school."

    LOL too funny.

My son's PS K teacher seemed excited that we were going to homeschool (I didn't tell her until the last day of school as I was picking him up! LOL).

For a while this summer, my son (he's 6) knew I was going to be his teacher but he thought I was going to be his teacher at PS! LOL I set him straight after I realized what he thought, he understood I was going to be his teacher at home once I re-explained it to him LOL

My DD is friends with one of the girls who lives near us. We saw her and her mom today at the pool. The mom asked me which teacher DD got, and I just sort of blankly looked at her and said "I'm not sure who she got as a teacher!" Her comment took me by suprise and I wasn't ready (I guess) to tell her DD wouldn't be in the same class with her DD again!

Oh well. Next time I guess I'll tell her.

On the other hand, I met another lady there who lives just a few houses down from us and she HS!:D

My daughter thought the same thing! She went to preschool at a local Church, the same one where I taught preschool (not her class though). When I told her I was going to be her teacher from now on she thought I meant at Church.

My kids are the same way. They announce to everyone that they are being hs. I am a private person and don't always want to share the news. But, I am learning to face the music and it's getting easier. I am just glad that they are so happy about it. I am praying it stays that way.
