Has anyone here used "Around the World in 180 Days" Teacher & Worksheets? It looks good but I would like some feedback on it.

Any recommendations on a fun but educational geography set? I have two middle schoolers. Both are strong readers but neither are strong writers.

    Thanks!

We have it for this year for my 9th grader. We bought the full set of Geography Matters and they have Around the World in 180 days for the last semester. I'm still getting use to the curriculum. They don't lay it out very easy to understand. I'm not sure if I am even doing it correctly yet. It sort of looks like they created the program with instructions and then later added the dvd download with everything. I plan to stick with it. So far my son is enjoying it.

Thanks for the input. I am going to keep looking and see what else there is but keep this one in mind.

We're using it right now. So far, I'm kind of liking it. There's a lot of looking things up on your own. Part of me would like to go more in depth, but am not sure how to, plus I don't think I want to take two years to go through it. We'll be finishing up with Africa soon.

Oh, I have two Teacher books, if you want one. The one I bought used, and it came with a student workbook. I decided I wanted another student workbook, and was going to buy one. Before I had chance to, someone at co-op posted that she had some stuff that was free to a good home, and it included Around the World (both books). I took it to get the second student book. Since it was free to me, you could have the teacher book for the cost of shipping. Let me know if you're interested.

I've tried the Around the World in 180 Days. It just didn't suit us at the time, but I still think in theory it sounds like a wonderful way to do history/geography. You can take as long as you like, and there are question sets for different age groups, so you could do it once while the kids are younger, then do it again in more depth for high school. Actually, the questions given are just sort of general, and if you run across any other interesting bits that aren't really addressed by the specific questions, you can add it in however you like. You can "camp out" on a topic or a people group and their culture, or a historic period of that particular location, until you feel it's time to move on. If you like doing the current events aspect, you can continue adding bits from the world news about it for the rest of the millenium! OR, you can just answer the questions as they are asked, pick and choose, and move on.
