I was wondering if anyone grind their own wheat, what is a good not too expensive electric mill. I see the Vital Mill costs less but don't know if it's any good. Also, where do you purchase your wheat and/or soybeans (I wanted to make my own soy flour also).

I have a Kitchen Aide mixer (Professional)...there's a grain/mill attachement for it. I haven't done this myself, but heard that it works great (I have a friend who grinds her own brown rice to make flour).

I have and use the Kitchen Aid grain mill. The only problem is that you run a chance of burning out the motor. To make flour, I have to run the wheat through twice - once at about midlevel and then once really fine. And even then it heats up. But it still works - I've had it about a year - and we eat cracked wheat for breakfast so it's not a huge strain to grind it first and then redo it.
