I told you they didn't pull it!!! And from what I've read about all the BS Dr. Phil used in putting on his show, I'm wondering how legit the comments on "his" message board are. They sure aren't in favor of HS'ing!!!

I went into the message boards to post...when I 'sent it,' there was a message that said it might take a few hours for it to show up on the boards (they check it first). Hmmmmm.....

Can't allow anything to favorable to HS'ing to be posted, now, can we? Let us know if they actually post it!

Maybe we all need to go to the message board and post what we feel. I don't think it would help but what do you all think. I noticed when I went to the message board and tryed to post you had to fill out form first.

Also, ladies when I looked at it, it didn't look like he was bad mouthing hs it was some about hs and some about ps what was best for a child unless I read it wrong.
No tomatoes if I am wrong just tell me and I will reread it.

My main concern was the show itself - - - from what I see on the 'teaser,' it's a very negative view. I just worry that ppl will see the unschoolers on there (as well as the other negatives) and will assume that's the way ALL homeschoolers are.

Still waiting for my post to show up on there...

Drama, drama, drama! It's what gets people to watch.

Kris, I agree it wasn't all "bad mouthing", but there were no supportive comments. No one saying, "Gee! What a neat idea!!!" The teaser set the tone with the "But how much are these unschooled kids actually learning....?" question, and the poor young lady that is scarred for life because her parents refused to send her to "real" school. I think the comments were more "Do what's best for your kid, but *I* sure wouldn't want to handicap MY kids in that way!"

The fact that it's a "debate" makes one wonder how it will turn out positive. I don't think I've ever come across a debate when one party says "yes, you're right, I've never thought about it like that before", so in all reality these families are probably going to stick to their guns and the war will rage on. I'm sure Nicole (the woman who was homeschooled) will have an impact on the anti-homeschoolers. But to be fair, shouldn't Dr. Phil have a homeschooler with positive feelings about it too? I was a public schooler, and I didn't relate to other kids either. In fact, I still suffer in some ways from the teasing, I used to regret the class changes because of who might see me in the hallway and what they might say. People don't realize how much it hurts! The first job I got after I graduated was torture, I was so used to people not liking me that it was hard to have to be there answering to a boss, and I would make a lot of mistakes because of being nervous. Finally, 13 years after high school, my fear of people is going away some. I do still have bad days when I don't even leave the house, but it's so much better than it used to be. So, maybe Dr. Phil should have someone on there with negative feelings about their public school experience, I'm sure a lot more people could relate to that! Besides, I wonder how many homeschoolers are drop outs?

I really find myself scared of this episode...
I just hope this falls off the scope, like most show topics, and does not "Inspire" some Legislators' Wife to do something about "Those People".

And to be honest.... I did like him and had great hopes for intelligent debate during a mid day show, when he first started. However, Dr? Phil "Jumped the Shark" on his show, when he introduced the use of "Lie Detectors".

(Jumped the shark is a term used to describe the moment a show "Dies"; Referencing when the Fonze jumped a shark on Happy Days)

Lie detectors are "Backwoods" Hooey. They are as asenine... as seeing if a woman floats to prove she is or is not a witch. Or putting wires on a scalp to prove someone likes the color blue. All they do is prove you are nervous.

And this show is not hosting a "Great School Debate". They are hosting a one-sided propaganda expose on "Those people who need to be regulated".

It's late and I am feeling a mix of fear and anger. I completely resent Dr? Phil, now. Not just dislike, but actually resent him.

The "?" in the name DR? Phil denotes my questioning of his Doctorate Title.

I wish they would just stop talking about us.
Thankfully, it will be shown AFTER Turkey day, which means I will not have too hear too much about it this holiday.

I think those fears are quite justified witha Democratic congress, Jen. D'mom, did you read the posts concerning all the manipulating involved in making this "debate"? If not, it makes for...interesting...reading!
