Has anyone used these? I am thinking of buying them for my soon-to-be second grader...we haven't done formal grammar before, so this looks like a good place to start.

I started both of them about half way through the year with my 1st grader. She is doing level 1.

Hmmm.. do I like them? Yes, but usually I think its WAY more than a 1st grader needs to know. I really think I should have just waited and started them next fall when she technically is a 2nd grader. I really don't feel the need for grammar or writing at such a young age, but I get into the "gotta keep up with the Jones' mentality and buy things that I later kind of regret.

We used them this year for 1st and 3rd. I like that they are gentle, and that in 3rd, my son was diagramming sentences. However, I am finding that my 3rd grader is not retaining as much as I would like; we add in Mad Libs for a little fun now and then, have done parts-of-speech hunts/races through the house, etc. to tie more into it. Granted, he does have mild dyslexia, though I do not think that bears as much role in our experience in GWG as I wish it did, lol! I have a friend whose 2nd grader is using GWG and WWW and she swears by them both for him :)
