and it's going SOOOOOO much better than I even expected! We are flying through everything though I set up blocks of time for each lesson guesstimating how long it would take he did Bible and Math is less than 30 min so I have to supplement with something later on today! He woke up and did his chores before breakfast since I worked in chore time as a 30 min block and told him whatever time was left could be his free time so he wanted that whole 30 min block to play with action figures! I know this probably wont' last but I am loving it! He is just glowing so excited he doesn't have to wait until bathroom breaks to go to the bathroom, so glad he doesn't have to spend 10 min making sure everyone is lined up straight and not talking etc...He's actually obeying and sitting down doing his work when I tell him to! (We have had obeying issues just in general lately) I so don't want to jinx anything but this is for sure one of the best decisions we have ever made!!
That is so neat, oh there will be days but what job or place don't have those days. Just enjoy the wonderful days and have fun.
hurray! We started back with a topographical map and art project, we will go from our "Cal History" class to English, and then Math, so thefun stuff is great! I would do something like read along or watch an educational video to encourage ds to do this type of thing every day for the begining days! SUper for your first day eh? Good going Mom!
Yippeee! That's great! I do have one question: If you figured out what you wanted him to accomplish, and just guesstimated the length it would take, and he finished that assignment that you gave him.........even if he did it in less time than you thought he might, he DID finish it! So why would you need to supplement with something else? Remember, homeschooling takes way less time than school for the very reasons you mentioned--no waiting in lines, etc. So you don't need to follow a school schedule when you homeschool! You follow a schedule that's best for your family! Another thought--If you assign him something and he enthusiastically gets it done, then why "reward" him with more schoolwork? You'll find he may start getting discouraged after awhile, and NOT be so enthusiastic about getting it done! Reward him with letting him play, explore, and enjoy something that he may learn from, but it's not "schoolwork" that you've assigned! Keep him loving school as he does now! Best wishes, homeschooling is great! I hope it continues going well!
