At what age should I start really worrying about proper technique and neatness with handwriting?

My dd will be only be 4 at the end of this month. However, she is advanced and doing kindergarten work. She's been writing for over a year now, but is still a tad sloppy and usually starts her letters from the bottom rather than the top. She LOVES writing, but the minute I try to correct her formation, she gets frustrated. Do I just let it go and wait until she's a little bit older? I'm tempted to do that because she is so young. I want to keep writing fun for her, but I'm also worried that if I don't correct her bad habits now that we'll have an even more difficult time later.

Oh we STILL do handwriting and my dd is 9. Don't press it at all! Maybe some copywork if she wants to - but she's young - the motor skills aren't all there yet.
