    Aurie, I am a mom who has homeschooled for what 11 years now? Let me tell you I have had melt down so many times its not funny!
    Each year usually around now I find out I am behind and need to play catch up, the kids fight it and I want to be outside in the sun or something other than schooling myself!
    I stress and fuss and often get it done, but not always.
    I have learned through the years to do what I know they need, including not whole pages on some days but odds or evens to get the point across and knwo they know the subject matter, and then let them move on to the next class... after all its abotu learning not completeting the whole page.
    let alone the whole book!
    I went through my old books a while back and found I have lots of last books left over, ( I use life paks, and tenth books are usually review so its okay) I know my children have a working knowledge of the work they do each day, they excel in many areas and need work in a few... but I know they are getting a good education because I am there to help when they need it.
    As for them wanting friends, I can so relate there!
    as many have heard on this list my dd's best friends have moved away in the past 3-4 years, each one she has known for many years and she now has one friend who she is TRYING to be best friends with that is her age. They don't see eye to eye on much and really dont have alot in common, but her mom and I get along lol!
    My dd needs a friend, and I am working to find a group to get her plugged into to make friends, away from our regular church. So she has Other friends to glean from you know?
    Maybe your kids need a seperate group sports or whatever related to join? This could give them something to work for in school too, If they complete this assignment they could go to such and such a group outing or something? Look for home school groups in your area?
    Just a thought, I figured we had no time for one, but am seriously planing to join ne for next year, as we will need it then!

    missinseattle! WOW that web site is awesome! IS that your home? We used to get that involved in schooling I miss those days! < But to the point, wht grade(s) do you teach again? My ds9 just finished studying rain forests, we did not do a project on it, but i need to have him make a teranium I think... did you think of doing that? You can make one just like a rain forest temperate zone.

    yes that's my dining room lol. The dining room is our actual school room. The book shelf with the bean plants- that is dd's library corner. She doesn't like being in her room alone so I set that up for her and I folded up a nice towel and blanket to make it cushioned. She loves it and she hangs her art work on the wall in her library.
    I actually go the idea from http://www.lessonplanspage.com/index.html
    There is a Kindergarten unit study for the rainforest on there. I checked out whatever books I could find on the rainforest and didn't necessarily stick with that lesson plan, but it gave me some ideas and got the creative juices flowing.
    Oh and my daughter is in Kindergarten.
