Deena, back when I was on the track team in, we were told improper shoes could result in shin spints. Are your walking shoes comfortable?

    Hi all!

Prairie Home- keep away from that chasm!

Deena, so sorry your shins are hurting. What could that be? Your kids sound like such good kids to me.

Well, it's almost the weekend again. Anyone have plans? Soccer season is less than two weeks away for my youngest two, so I think we are heading for a park to begin some running on the grass! We've been going on walks each day, and I am still working on my crunches.

I made a good tomato soup today in the crockpot- I don't know if I can duplicate it though- it was truly a bit of this and some of that! Tonight we splurged and had some ice cream, but I tried to keep my portion small!

I don't have much time tonight- I'll try to stop in again tomorrow!

Take care all, and have a great Friday!

Really Pam? I hadn't heard that! Thankyou so much for letting me know!

My shoes are fairly comfortable, but they're not walking shoes. They're flat shoes that are my most comfortable ones and I add an insert to that supports my high arch. And they're probably really too heavy to be wearing for this much exercise!

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I didn't know how to find good shoes for my strange feet (narrow heel, high arch, wide balls of my feet)! I would love to find somewhere I can go that will have someone that would find shoes that REALLY fit me, not shoes that cost the most, and that they get the most commission for! (or however that works!) Haven't found it yet! I better look around some more!

DH has tomorrow off. Not sure we'll do anything more than get things accomplished that need to be done.........but that'd be nice! He's the Treasurer for our church, and every year in March the auditor comes to go over the church books with him at our home. So that will be happening Sunday afternoon.

My shins kind of bothered me for the rest of this day. I MAY try again tomorrow and see what happens. Maybe I should go get some shoes tomorrow? I have no clue where a good place would be or good shoes to get! I'd just have to try on a bunch, I guess!

You sound like me. I only wear Skechers. I was also having heel pain issues and the dr said my sneakers were too flat making my heel go down. I tried Skechers and haven't had any issues since then. I have different styles of Skeckers and that is all I wear.

Deena, flat soles are definitely not great for walking!! Get some new shoes, girl!!

My mom has really weird feet and being a ps teacher, had to wear comfortable shoes. She loves the Clark shoes and says they are more comfortable than any other she's tried. They are pricey, but she finds them on sale a lot. She wears New Balance tennis shoes. I have some NB, but they are slip on, so I can't do my walking in them. I wear my dd9's Nikes to walk in.

So how's the weight loss going for everyone? I'm down 5.6 pounds. I ready for a noticeable change, and I'm not there yet. I'm hanging in there though!

I got a pair of NB shoes that are specifically for walking---they felt decent, not too tight or loose, but when I wear them to walk on the treadmill, my feet start getting numb and it's hard to walk. That's not good, so I don't wear those anymore.

I'll talk with dh about it and see what he thinks...

I do have a stationary bike that we got when I was pregnant with my almost 17yo. DH says maybe I should use that for awhile. I don't like it as well as walking on the treadmill though. It has the handles the go back and forth, so it's working the upper body as well.

I've lost about 2/10 of a pound since last time. My weight isn't coming off very fast, so I wouldn't do well on "The Biggest Loser"! ;) But I know I am making good progress, just cuz I'm exercising 3-5 times a week! :D

I think about you guys every day. Keep up the good work!

Deena, I doubt you need to be on The Biggest Loser!! I love the show, though. Remember, those folks work with trainers ALL day for WEEKS to get those results. We're still living our normal lives and trying to be healthier.

My weight's not coming off quickly either, but it IS coming off, and that's what's important. Learning to stay healthy is my goal.

What inspiration you ladies are! :D

I am attempting to lose 40 lbs by August 30  I want to do it in a healthy way though so I know it may not even be possible....gotta give it a whirl anyways.

Deena - Not sure how your shins are doing now but depending on how your treadmill is built, you can try raising the front end of the machine approximately 2 inches. This will act as if you are walking on a slight incline and your body will automatically adjust so you are walking more on your toes which is easier on your shins and body over all. Just a thought :D

    Hi!

Nice to see new posters--- come on in!

I have a pair of purple and white Skecher slip-ons that I absolutely LOVE!! However, they are about five years old and I don't know that I can wear them this summer. :( I'll have to remember to keep an eye out for that brand...

DH is working late so I may let the boys figure out what they will have and I am going to make a salad for me. That sounds good. Has anyone tried the new Kraft "free" dressings or the salad spritzers? My dad was on a diet many years ago that would let him put tomato juice on his green salad instead of dressing- every now and again I make one with V-8 just to be nostalgic! It's actually quite tasty. Especially good with some canned tuna and good tomatoes.

The boys are working on lapbooks this week and have done quite a bit of work today. In a little bit I'll throw them outside again to run some energy off. They are really applying themselves, so don't want to interrupt too soon!!

Well, I've done my exercise and have been drinking my water. I told DH that I hope to be in the next size smaller jeans by next month.

Time to run for now. We will get there ladies- one day at a time!! Have a wonderful weekend- I'll see you sometime during it!!

Drink your water and kiss your kids- MT3

Next size smaller jeans--now that would be nice!

mtnest, I'd like to lose 40, also--for starters--and then trim up even more. I have a RL friend who's encouraging me to do some "juice fasting." It supposedly triggers a more rapid, yet healthy weight-loss without the dangers of a true water fast, and a person's metabolism isn't tampered with. It's also supposed to be very good at detoxifying the body. When I get back from a trip this weekend to work on class reunion plans, I hope to get in touch with her and maybe try it. If I do, and if it works, I'll let you know.

About treadmills... they're inside the house, right? Why not run barefoot? (Or maybe I'm the only barefoot mom here. I get out of my shoes almost as soon as I step inside the house, summer or winter!)

    See you'all next week!

Prairie, using the treadmill barefoot would hurt!! It's that conveyer belt type material. It would cause something like a carpet burn on the bottoms of your feet. We actually sold our treadmill when we moved, because I hated using it. I don't like being inside to walk.

Good morning. I just had to come and share with my "support group". Last night we had some friends over. We were talking and I got up to get a book to show my friend and she said, "You've lost weight." A statement- NOT a question!!! Yeah! It totally made my day!

I've been up and started laundry, done my exercises, had my first glass of water and now am starting on a cup of black coffee. Later we will go for a walk with the dog if the rain holds off. I prefer to walk outside too, but would walk indoors during the winter and the worst heat of the summer if we had a treadmill. I have a stairstepper though, and sometimes will do that in bare feet.

You all have a great day!

    :)
