Hi! I am new here, and I am new to homeschooling. My DS is 6, and right now, he is in PS, in Kindergarten. We will be homeschooling next year, for 1st grade, though, and I am very excited about it! We also have a 3 year old, who will be doing a little bit of preschool work this year. (If anyone has ideas of how to keep her occupied while I try to HS her big brother I would LOVE to hear them!) We attended a homeschooling convention in Cincinnati last month, and loved it! I have settled on using CLE for math, LA, Science, Social Studies, and Bible. There are so many directions that I want to go, in "extra" stuff, but I have had to force myself to calm down and focus on these core subjects first, so we can both get acclimated before I start doing more. I am so glad that I have found an active HS'ing board! I look forward to getting to know you all better!
Hi and welcome! I'm new here too, starting HS after the summer. I'm sure you'll like it here, everyone is very helpful!
Welcome! Sounds like you are getting a great start....and with wisdom to ease into it. When my kids were your kids' ages, we did a lot of our school work on the couch cuddled up as a family. Everyone was more comfy that way. When ds needed to use the table instead, I had little sissy working on coloring pages, puzzles or play dough. We didn't do a strict preK curriculum, I just worked with her interests at that time.
Thanks! I don't plan on using a strict curriculum with her, but I have gotten a few books I think she will enjoy...different things, along the lines of cut, color, paste, numbers, letters, shapes, etc. I bought several different ones at a Border's that was closing, so I got a great deal on them!
