I am new to homeschooling my daughter who is a 2nd grader. I have many reasons for choosing to homeschool, and just a few weeks into our new venture, I have realized so many positive attributes to homeschooling that we didn't anticipate. I've just browsed this site a bit this week and have decided to jump in - so far it seems that it will be a great resource.

When did you start homeschooling? Congrats! And where are you? I'm in Austin, TX and have been homeschooling for a year and a half. My boys are 8, 4, and 3. Nice to meet you!
Welcome to the spot. Beware, this place is addicting...lol. I'm HSing my K5 son, who's my oldest. I also have two preschool boys, ages 3 and 20 months.
I began homeschooling on August 27th - so we've just completed our first 8 weeks. We live in North Carolina. I have a son who will be graduating from high school in the spring. We have very successfully navigated the school system for him, but with ongoing changes in our school system, we are not able to get my daughter into a similar program, so along with many other reasons, we decided that homeschooling would provide her with the types of opportunities that we'd like to have for her.
Hi Diana, We are in NC too and are in our second year homeschooling our two youngest daughters. We have two sons who graduate in the Spring. Our other three are grown and married. Found out yesterday one of the teachers at our sons' school has the MRSA that has been causing such a scare. I wish we had homeschooled the boys too but they wanted to finish high school with their class. I am glad you have joined the group. I know you will make friends here in no time. Beth
