My name is Rebecca, I hs 3 children here in Ky. I have 2 sons aged 11 and almost 5 and a daughter who is 7 This is our 1st year schooling them from home. Its been stressful at times but we have had some great fun too Im always on the look to help things run smoothly at home, and still have many unanswered questions. Nice to meet you! We have had a whole bunch of new homeschoolers/new-to-the-site lately 8) . I am from IL but recently moved to hubby's hometown in IA. My son spent a couple years in public school but now we are homeschooling for the long haul! He will be 9 this month and our daughter will be 6 in a few weeks, too. We are pretty relaxed and only using texts for reading and math. My kids' interests lead us into history and science quite a bit. We plan to start more formal science and history in the next year or so. Welcome aboard! I'm sure you will like it here!

Hi Rebecca, Welcome! Yes, this is a great place, I hope you stick around! I've learned a lot from the other homeschool people on this site! I've been homeschooling for 7 years, and still love it! Well, MOST days I love it! :lol: Some days are very stressful :shock: but mostly it's a great experience, and my kids are REALLY learning, yet it's less stressful than if they were in ps or other school! We've found that what works for one child may not work for anothe. Also, what works for one child one year may not work for that same child the next year. So every year you will have some sdjustments and changes. We've found a math curriculum that my younger two seem to really like so we're sticking with it, even though there are a couple of others that I'd really like them to try. If it starts not working, THEN we'll move on to something else! We've found a history curriculum (I use that term loosely, since I've put together a couple or three different things to make up the class, and add more as I find it) that we are having GRRRREAT fun with, yet they are learning soooo much! I just LOVE it! That's just general info. If you'd like more specific info., just ask, we'll all be happy to share ideas with you!
