Hey there ladies! I know I have not been around in a very long time. I have been super busy and since I work online it is hard to spend any more time online. Anyway...I have a question: I know there are three ways to fulfill the requirements by the law. I always used the standardized test. This year I do not want to...but I am unsure how to go about the other other options. My 1st grader, Alyssa, is struggling to read. We think she may have dyslexia. I would know for sure if the reading specialist would ever call me back to make an appointment. UGH...need to find another place. Anyway...she reads on a K level..and gets very confused when she sees a bunch of letters. She is well advanced in math but her reading issues are becoming clear. Anyway...I don't think she will be able to read the test. So, I need to know the procedure for the other ways to fulfill the law...some tips and advice. I know a certified teacher can sign off on something...but the only teachers I know are certified in MICH...does that make a difference? THANKS!
Ava- I'm pretty sure you need an OH teacher. Are there any local homeschool groups you could contact and ask who they use? I'm a certified teacher and do assessments in Ohio, send me a PM with your location. Maybe we are close enough we could meet up?
Yes, you need an Ohio teacher. I've some hs'ing friends up in your area, one might be a teacher. Would you like me to find out for you? She's a Christian hs'ing gal that went to college with me. She might be in Bowling Green, but I think they moved up closer to you. (If Bry's Gal isn't close to you, that is!)
hey Jackie! I heard from a lady from a local homeschool co op who gave me a lead. If that does not work out, I will let you know! Thank you!!!
Jackie, Do you know any down my direction? Who may specialize in special needs? I'm in search of a new one this year. You can pm me if you want to. Thanks in advance!!!!!
You're around Hocking Hills, aren't you? I don't know of anyone down it that area right off, but I'll put some feelers out to see if I can find any. Would you be willing to come up to Columbus? I could find someone up this way much easier, but my cousin might know someone near Lancaster.
Lancaster would be great. I'm willing to travel to Columbus if there isn't anyone closer. Thanks Jackie!
I talked with my cousin today. And I was right; her best friend Steph homeschools out of Lancaster. So she sent Steph an email asking her about it. Rachael also mentioned another family we've done Bible Bee with that lives off of 33, nearer to Canal Winchester. So I'l let you know when I hear something.
