So I have a new niece. She's about a month old now and I've been racking my brain for a special gift to send out to her. I've had a few ideas but they've been rather expensive (you don't want to know what a few yards of a hard-to-find family tartan from Scotland costs!:shock So I decided I'd do a baby quilt. I've done a few before, knotted rather then quilted, and they've been received well and I really enjoy making them. Yesterday I was in our local thrift store (yes, that's where I always get my fabric! ) and I saw a skirt that I thought would be perfect! It's huge, has great colours and the fabric is some kind of soft velour. I could cut it out into hexgons, stitch it together, maybe add some crazy quilt-like embroidery and put it together. My second look this morning makes me nervous though. I LOVE the colours but ladies, are they good for a baby girl?
