DH is getting a nice bonus soon and I am going to splurge and get something fun for our classroom. What is something you might get if you had the opportunity? I just can't pick one thing. I already have a nice playground and our classroom/playroom has nice shelves and furniture. I have a ton of books and manipulatives. I was thinking we might get a really cool balance beam, but what else??? I also intend to upgrade some stuff like plastic drawers to wooden. Give me some ideas. What would you splurge on???

No ideas? I know this is more of a personal issue, but I was hoping some of you had some suggestions for neat things. I do need to update the look of our playroom so I'll probably make some new posters and things for the walls. I really want a different table and chairs for this room. But, I hate getting rid of the other table...it's only 3 years old. I doubt I could get much money out of it if I tried to see it. So, I am thinking I might be able to move it to the basement for some art projects??? I don't think dh would like that too much. :( I remember once on another site a lady said if she really had the money she'd get this cool merry-go-round type equipment for her yard. I thought that was a neat idea! What kid wouldn't want that?

    Still looking for some ideas.

Good ideas. I actually ordered the parachute this year and we have the hopscotch squares too. Those are so fun. I also need to organize more. I'll have to keep looking for something that would work in our playroom. Educational videos are a great idea too. Thanks Amy!

TeacherMom, let your DS know that XBox 360 is a disapointment. We have one because our regular X-box keeps freezing up. It doesn't "support" the games we already have (I'll admit the kids like playing star wars) they keep updating new downloads and eventually they probably will all be supported, but if we could get a new game system (and the x-box was bought for ds through the children's wish foundation-- for eye hand codnation) I think we would pick PS2 or 3 that will be out soon. They have more younger games. Do you have the encyclopedia on your compute desk top? (we have a globe icon for it)

I'd look for good classes to sign them up for, and second I'd look into equipment to keep them active.

Yep, I think the pool sounds pretty good. We've talked about it, but our property has a slope. I guess we'd have to see about that. The equipment sounds good. I wish I had some catalogs to browse through. I don't get the classroom catalogs anymore. I just get the teacher resource type catalogs. We're finishing the basement and one room will be a workout room. It would be cool to have something in there just for kids! Keep the ideas coming guys!

encyclopedia on desk top? We have explorapedia and Encarta? Is there another one I can get?
As for the xbox 360 we have a ps2 that the older two and little help from younger one worked taking care of neighbors house when they sold it and moved before the new folks were to be there, they bought it themselves with the money they earned. Was good for them to save up and all go in on it cause they all take good care of it. We had had one before that got stollen the last time we went to family vacation in SD. It had been a gift, for watching someones motorcycle for the winter.
He is missing it because our game tv broke down and we need to go to Salvation Army to get newer one.
Thats why he suggested teh game things hehe.
That is an 8 yr old boy from California all games!

    TeacherMom...

We have an Xbox already, lol. The kids love it , but it was really a Daddy thing. I don't have any good encyclopedias, book or destop. I think it's a great idea. I wish we had room for a real set. We usually use something like encyclopedia.com if we need to now, but it would be nice to have it on the computer offline.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Missy try looking for Encarta, they have several versions now and that and Explorapedia are really kid friendly ones.
We have an old set of Funk and Wagnals too. But we only have them because ds15 ( in four days!) said he wanted to keep them. He put them under his bed in a box and they have been collecting dust ever sence. I am thinking of donating them to library or church school.
I would offer them to you Missy but the shipping and handling would kill me hahaha!

Okay, I just spent $350 on more storage/shelving for the playroom. I hope it works out well. It's wood like the rest of our bookshelves, but one is a really cool 4-sided contraption. Two sides offer space for books and the other sides are places for plastic containers. The other piece is wooden stackable bins. I think they'll match fairly well with the other oak stuff in the room. I can't wait for them to come so I can get busy on reorganizing. I still want to do a little more damage though, lol. This is a good start though!
