3 cubed divided by 6 = ? The answer we come up with is 4.5 but the answer book is 3/2. Can someone please explain this to me. This is in our state practice test book.
3^3 is 27 or 3x3x3, and the whole thing is divided by 6, which is 3x2. If we write that as a fraction, and cancel out the same number of 3's top and bottom (one each), we would have (3x3)/2 left, which would be 4.5 or 9/2. Nope, I'm not getting any farther than you did. I tried entering 3^3/6 into my search box and here's what came up: Calculation 3^3/6 = Decimal: 4.5 3^3/6 = Fractional 4 1/2 the only thing I can figure out is that they meant 3 squared divided by 6 = 3/2
Carl says the book is wrong. The answer is 4.5 Now he's saying they sqared it. 3x3 is 9, and 9 divided by 6 is 1.5 But if it's supposed to be cubed, the answer is 4.5
Thank you everyone. I thought that book was wrong too. I hope that the actual test is more accurate than this.
Call the publisher!! I've called ACSI about mistakes in our math, and we've been using it since second grade, I believe. They're nice about it, lol, and they admit some get by them.
