Hi, sorry to pop in like this but I have 2 questions about this reporting form.

    1. My daughter is 6 1/2. Won't be 7 until March. But I have to report her as she was in school and I pulled her out. So what testing is required for a 1st grader? It is asking test name.

    2. The annual instructional calender--says calender attached or calender recorded below. What is this?

I thought of another question. Do I need to turn in a list of books and subjects too?

Can someone help! This is all new to me! I printed out the form thinking it looked simple enough.

It is the MACHE non public education compulsory instruction report.

    Thank you!

Thngs vary from state to state. We've no idea where you are at, so I doubt anyone here could answer your question. Call HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Association) and ask them. Their number is 540-338-5600. And welcome!!!

    Minnesota

But thank you. Actually this is just a general question and not a legal fight. Just very new at forms!

// mache. org /Compulsory ReportingForm. pdf

This is the form. I had to leave off the first part as it would not let me post a link.

    Sports,
Jackie is right. This is a question for HSLDA. I know it's not "legal" in the courtroom sense, but it is legal in the trying-to-comply-with-state-laws sense. That's half of what HSLDA is there for.

The test it's asking for and what is required on the calendar (and if you have to report your curriculum) is different from state to state and sometimes within a certain district.

If there is someone else from Minnesota on here, they might be able to help you. Otherwise, HSDLA is your best bet. We'd all help if we could, but not being from Minnesota, most of us just wouldn't know.

Check out thier website and look up the laws for your state, then see if you still have questions, take a deep breath filling out forms for different states can be stressful at first but most of the ladies and gentlemen here seem to get it done and handed in.
Inmy state its easier we just send in an afidafit ap and volea!

But we needed to know where you were so that we could help because for example, here is Texas we have NO testing, NO forms and NO dealing with the state in any way, so we have no way of knowing. But someone from your state would be a great help.

I know that when I go to HSLDAs site, like the others have said, their is a wealth of information! It is awesome!

Here is the direct link to your states page:
    http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/MN/default.asp

And here is a direct link to the laws of your state:
    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=MN

Not sure if this helps ....
Hope you find what you need and come back and chat sometime! :D

It depends on the state you are in~for example, here in Louisiana we can be classified as a home study OR a private school. With the home study choice, you have to send in examples of work done, ect. When you send in a letter to them titled "Private School Letter of Intent" and state that you will be in session for at least 180 days and # of students. I send them 2 copies with a SASE and they stamp it and send it on back to me. It is good for one year and that is all I have to do to be legit with the state! I dont leave the house during school hours (I babysit 2 other kiddos....) , but in our hs groups' newsletter this month, they reccommended that if you are out and about during these hours, to carry a copy of your stamped letter in the car with you! Good luck, sometimes when dealing with the state "less is better"~wink wink!!!;)

    Okay. Thank you.

Yes I will be back. I just found this site by googling for help. I wanted to get this form filled out and sent off. I have this worry that if I don't do it now, I will forget to do it!

I thought this was a common form used by many and those were general questions. That is why I expected that any homeschooler would know! I didn't realize it was different by state.

But yes MINNESOTA! Ok going to try and catch up with some local homeschoolers! If anyone here knows, please post!

In regards to the question about calendar, I just usually write that "we will generally follow the local public school's calendar". That way, I have given NO specific dates but have provided the minimum required. I just tend to write it next the question about scheduling.
No, you do not need to submit a list of books used; and it is recommended that you don't.

    Thank you!

That is what I did and mailed it in today.

I was complicating it. Thinking I had to submit a 12 month calender for homeschool activities/work.
