There is need all around us yet we feel unable to make a difference because we don't know how. This group befriends and offers training and jobs to women who would like to leave the sex trade.

I found the media section of the site most helpful to get get an idea what it's all about.

    We can make a difference.

This is heart-rending. I've heard of it happening in other countries, but I just became aware that 14,500 to 17,500 are brought in and enslaved here in the U.S every year:

"Anywhere from 14,500 to 17,500 people are brought into the country for forced labor or s-x every year, primarily from East Asia, Mexico and Central America, according to estimates in a 2006 State Department report."

This group works here in the States.

Another group is working on rescue efforts in Albania. "Possible teams would be sent that are skilled in the areas of sewing, computer training, personal care. Team information will be released as project develops."
If you or your family can serve with them, here's a link:

It's hard to think rationally about this. The child slavery issue had been mentioned on another thread a while back, about a girl who slaved for a family and was rescued. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Singing. I'm sure some will pray for the girls, as I did when I read the other thread. Maybe some can even volunteeer.
