Hello, Daughter (14-1/2) is beginning 9th grade at the end of August. Technically, we homestudy through a charter school; but, we have a GREAT deal of freedom. We have been doing that for the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades; so, it's been five years now. Despite being in a homestudy program, rather than going strictly homeschool, I still really need the support. I just wanted to check to make sure that I was welcome. Sometimes, people have strong feelings. We do meet once a month with a teacher. We have a new Educational Facilitator (EF) this year. Our previous one is such a dear; so, I am a bit nervous. We meet with her next week. I talked to her on the phone, and she seems to quite nice. We're out here in California. I'm an older mom of 53, and am a non-practicing law school graduate. I'm also a retired social worker who adopted my daughter (with my husband of 26 years). She's such a great person! It'll be neat to discuss things with everyone.
Of course you are welcome! The ladies (and few men) here are wonderful and very accepting. With 5 years under your belt, I am sure you have lots to offer us.
We have members here who homeschool, who have kids in on-line schools, and some who even (GASP!!!) attend a SCHOOL BUILDING!!! So welcome. You'll get all the support you need here (and even a bunch you might not want, lol!)
Welcome!!! In my opinion, if your child is educated at home, you homeschool. There are a thousand ways that can be accomplished.
