We are new to EP (Army - Fort Bliss) and live on the West side. My children are supposed to be enrolling in Public Elementary school but because of what EPISD is going through right now, I'm mortified about this. We have tossed homeschooling around for over 2 years (our hometown in WI was a small town with absolutely amazing schools and teachers and were completely blessed to have that available), but stayed in the public school system for my oldest DD first 3 years of school. This year, I have a 5 (kinder) and 7 (2nd gr) yr old daughters both in school full time. It is time to make the decision whether or not homeschooling will be best. I'm here to read, browse and gain information on what homeschooling is like from your perspective to help us shape our opinions and learn more about "real" homeschooling, not just what the curriculum websites share. Thanks for all your insight! Wish me luck
Welcome to the spot! I think you'll find most of us are pro homeschooling But there are cons and those will vary by family and by season of the family's life.
Hi Shellyk! We're new to the Homeschool Spot, but not to homeschooling. We're over at Ft. Bragg right now (Army family for 9+ years, but new to NC). I'm homeschooling a K'er and 4th grader this year. I agree with what JosieB says, I'm sure you'll find some cons that vary family to family but the pros nearly always outweigh them.
Welcome! I lived in El Paso for 5 years. Lived on the West side for a time too. We also lived on Biggs Airfield. Both of my dds were born at WBAMC. We live in MN where I grew up now. I hope you enjoy El Paso. Good luck on your decision.
