Just a quick introductory message, I have 3 children, ages 12, 4, and 2. I have just started homeschooling and have been looking for a forum to talk with other homeschooling parents. I look forward to getting to know you all and God bless.

Welcome, Beth! You are going to really like it here--it's a great place to visit, relax, or find answers or prayer.
I homeschool my 3 children: dd9, ds10, and dd1.5 :) The two oldest are doing their 5th grade this year--homeschooled all the way through. The little one is teaching me new tricks. (he he)
    Have a fun stay!

Welcome from the midwest! This is our 3rd homeschooling year, though not consecutively. My oldest went to public school for a couple years here and there. He is now 9 and I have a 6yo daughter. We use a variety of curriculum and are pretty relaxed overall. Hope you enjoy it here!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been reading some past posts and found them very helpful. I think maybe since I am so new to homeschooling I am going by a more rigid schedule than most. LOL I just want to make sure I am doing everything right.

In response to the foothills thing, We live about 12 miles from the Virgina State line, on I-77. Very small town, with absolutely no local supoort groups. Hopefully I will be able to settle in soon and not be so rigid with the whole thing.

My 4 year old son is attending Pre-K at our local elementary school. My 12 year old son has ADHD/ODD and can be quite a handful sometimes. My 2 year old daughter will be 3 on the 27th of this month.

I am using the Alpha Omega Life Pacs for 7th grade, Science, Language Arts, Math, & History/Geography. We are also using Spelling Power.

I have a Home Ec Course for him, but we haven't started on it. I also Have a Word Wise program which we started today. Also Typing Tutor, which we haven't started either.

I am using the Home Tracker Plus Software for keeping track of hours and such. But haven't really figured the rest of the program out. LOL

Hmmm I guess that's about all right now.

Ohh yeah, he is spending some excercise time, with sit-ups (trying to work up to being able to do push ups properly then chin ups) and riding his bicycle daily (as weather permits) for PE.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know I am always looking for something creative and fun to do.

I've also signed him up for 4-H.

    Beth

There's a web site called www.HeadsUpNow.com for special needs, specifically ADD/ADHD kids. The gal who runs it suggested Spelling Power for my middle child, so I've been using it this year. I'm really pleased with it; she did her "activity" today down in the basement. She spelled her words while lifting 3# weights!!! She's not "officially" diagnosed anything, but if she was in a "real" classroom the teachers would be screaming to drug her up!

Did you read the thread about moving? One of our members was in the path of Rita and Katrina. She was wanting to move. We all sort of settled in your neck of the woods! Maybe we can all come down and form that support group you want, LOL!
