Hello. My name is Dawn and I am a former teacher turned new homeschool mom. My boys are in 1st and 4th grade. We moved back to northern Illinois last December leaving behind a great school in Texas. We chose to homeschool due to the district we are living in currently. I love it though it comes with a new set of frustrations! I will have many questions as I figure out how to retrain my teaching brain to teaching one student instead of thirty and hopefully be help to some as well.

Welcome, Dawnk! I was a ps school social worker for 20 years, and retired because it almost drove me nuts! (very short drive, btw ) I really didn't like the direction ps was heading when NCLB was getting underway, and I like it even less now that Common Core is being implemented. I'm schooling Other People's Kids now that I'm long done HS DS, including HIS DS, who is now in 3rd grade.
