What curriculum would you suggest for a 10th grader who is a visual learner? I'm aware of Abeka's video school, but I'm sure there are other programs out there as well and would like to have a few more options. My ds can watch a video a time or two and have it almost memorized, word for word but when it comes to reading and grasping a concept, it's a struggle for him.
My ds14 is the same way. Since he has Tourette's Syndrome, we can't rely on computer-based curriculum too much since looking at the screen makes his tics worse. We use Switched on Schoolhouse by Alpha Omega Publications for science since the experiments are included on video clips right in the lesson. There are also other video clips with added information as well. Ds didn't care for SOS history since it as all reading and writing essays (to him ). I am putting together my own history for him using videos, TV programs, movies, books, etc. to make it more interesting since history is his passion. For math we use Math-U-See. As it implies, it is geared toward visual learners. It comes with a teacher's manual and DVD of the lessons so the student can watch it being taught rather than just read about it. My ds14 doesn't care for math at all, but he tolerates MUS.....and some days, that's all I can hope for!
Thinkwell for math (not listed on the link below). There are a bunch of other high school options toward the bottom of this page. I don't know which are visual, because my kids aren't in high school yet. http://www.hslda.org/highschool/curriculum.asp
