    Hello,
I have a daughter who will be entering high school this year. I really thought we would be doing the virtual learning academy through our state but she really struggled with the junior high portion (not the work aspect, but the teacher's slow responses to everything put her behind). I am looking for secular material and free is even better. Please help if you know of anything. We have very limited resources we will live. The closest co-op is an hour and a half away! Our library is useless since it is only open two days a week and only has a small room of books, most of which we own. We are really struggling to find something that fits us.

    what subjects will she need?
Samaratin ( I spelled that wrong but) has a web site that you can try and see if they will send you free books.
There are a lot of free sites online, and Colorado Mom has some great stuff both interacive and on paper at this point, simplezine? Is that right I just click the links! lol
she has some trial stuff up for summer weeks so you can have your dd try it out and see if she likes it.
Just yesterday my son was filling my head with information on a science topic and he decided it was from her Solar System Astronomy class! Not the ones we studied in CO op but the online one she had up for a trial thing and he loved it!
I am looking at what I have and what we will use , but I do have soem Life Pak teacher books if you choose to go with Alpha Omega I have History and Language Arts Teacher books I would only want the couple bucks to mail it ot you if you can do that, I really want them out of my house! lol
oh this is 9th grade ?

Also, see if you can get some books through interlibrary loan. The rules for this vary from one library to the next.

I don't have much for high school but I have a few free links you might be able to use listed here http://gapeachhomeschool.yolasite.com/high-9-12.php

I know some people that are using some of the resources listed there, though mine are just 3 and 6 so I haven't used any of them yet.

www.courserepository.org and www.hippocampus.org have lots of free high school courses just find the textbooks used at a place like www.alibris.com or Amazon.

    http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/online_hs.htm
This site has free high school online courses compiled for displaced Katrina victims.

    http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mep/default.htm
Free math, eastern european system adapted for United Kingdom, great math. There is a yahoo group to help decide where to start.

    http://www.neabigread.org/
    Free literature guides

http://www.msnucleus.org/ Free science online - but some secondary topics not complete yet.

Often useful to google textbook sites, or teacher's syllabus - for example I've found great resources searching AP US history or AP Biology. A google search can turn up lots of little gems that can piece together for a course - just a little time consuming.

See if the hippocampus and hoagies courses get you enough stuff - if you are still lacking in a few subjects I can provide more ideas.
