Can anyone suggest fun historical fiction that's appropriate for younger teenagers?

    Thanks!

Like this? www.BarefootKidsStore.com There's some Shakespeare-ish, Odysseus, King Arthur, and that sort of thing that are fiction, but based on real historical literature. There are also some (like Little Leap Forward) that are set in other geographical locations. Click on "shop" at the top and then sort by "age 12+" on the left.

Or are you talking about things like Little Women that are set during a particular (recent) time period but aren't true stories?

I'm not sure what era you are looking for, but my son enjoyed A Boy at War about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I know that doesn't fit the "fun" you mentioned, but it was light for such a heavy subject matter.

    Boy or girl?

Shadow Spinner by Susan Fletcher. Absolutely loved it!!! It's more of a "girl" book. The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Calico Captive, and The Bronze Bow, all by Elizabeth Speares.
