There are also some (like Little Leap Forward) that are set in other geographical locations. Click on "shop" at the top and then sort by "age 12+" on the left. Or are you talking about things like Little Women that are set during a particular (recent) time period but aren't true stories?

I'm not sure what era you are looking for, but my son enjoyed A Boy at War about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I know that doesn't fit the "fun" you mentioned, but it was light for such a heavy subject matter.
